Ant Signal internet filter
Block adult sites across browsers and apps.
Ant Signal runs an always-on DNS filter on your iPhone. Add a buddy to put turn-off requests behind approval and alert them if the filter is removed.
What it blocks
A domain-level block across the phone.
The filter acts as the iPhone’s DNS resolver. When an app or browser asks for a blocked adult domain, Ant Signal returns no usable address. The page or service cannot connect.
This applies outside Safari because apps use the same network-level filter. Ant Signal also blocks the hostnames of common encrypted DNS services that could bypass the configured resolver.
Blocks domains in Safari and other browsers.
Blocks domain lookups made inside apps.
iOS reconnects the filter after its VPN switch is turned off.
Unclear filter state does not quietly open the connection.
Accountability
Removing the filter leaves a clear signal.
Once you connect a buddy, turning the internet filter off inside Ant Signal requires a request. Your buddy sees the named change and chooses whether to approve it.
Deleting or disabling the filter configuration outside the app can take it down. Ant Signal records the attempt on the phone and alerts your buddy. A normal VPN toggle is different: iOS reconnects it, so Ant Signal points you back to the in-app request.
One approval, one change
An approval is spent when the approved change happens. It does not grant a general window for changing other protections.
Privacy and limits
The filter reads domain lookups only.
The shipped filter is DNS-only. It does not inspect page contents, read encrypted traffic, or build a browsing history for your buddy.
An app that connects to a hard-coded resolver address can bypass a DNS-only filter. Ant Signal does not claim to inspect SNI or HTTP traffic. Those are separate techniques and are not part of the current protection.
The Safari extension can temporarily open Reddit and X while the filter is on. It removes marked adult posts from supported Reddit pages. It does not filter X content.
